a new opinion in Sports about Reebok Realflex Fusion Tr

As a mum, when I am chasing around after the kids and doing the school run, I usually dress pretty casually in jeans with trainers. When my last pair of trainers developed a hole in them last spring, I decided I needed a new pair, and as I had done the time before when I needed trainers, went online to look at them. I hate shopping and as long as I stick to the reebok brand, I can be pretty confident that I can buy in my usual size and they will fit me. Other brands I have not been as lucky with as they can sometimes be a bit narrow for my feet.

I was drawn to the realflex trainers not because I am a runner like they are intended for, but because they are very funky looking shoes, and the stiking black design I picked with pink sole and laces was very appealing to me visually.

When the trainers arrived in the post from JD sports I was a little wary with my purchase decision. At ?70, they are not a cheap pair of trainers, yet when I took these out of the box, they looked really thin, and I couldn't see how they would not wear out really quickly as there just did not seem to be any padding round the heel in particular.

However, after I had worn these a few times my doubts did start to fade. Putting these on the first time to leave the house, I felt as though I didn't have any shoes on. My feet were so comfortable and the shoes are so light on my feet I can see why runners would choose these as even when I am just walking about at a brisk pace, I feel a bit less sluggish and it is no effort at all to pick up my feet.

I've worn these out and about for whole day trips with the kids, and these are a supportive shoe that remain comfortable even if worn for several hours of activity. The closest I get to running is a brisk walk most days when we are late for school, but I would wear them for sport too as they do feel supportive to my knees and ankles. My knees in particular are prone to pain if my shoes are not supporting me well, and I don't have a problem at all with these shoes.

There are a couple of negatives. These are fabric shoes, which makes them breathable, but not waterproof by any stretch of the imagination. And because they are thin, if it is cold outside then there is no warmth there like you get with leather shoes. Although this does mean your feet have good ventilation on a warmer day. Grip is quite good. I went out when it was frosty in these, but wouldn't risk going out in the rain or snow if I want to stay dry.

Another negative is the sole is designed as a series of rectangular and square projections which remind me a bit of the studs you get on the bottom of football boots. These look great, are flexible when you walk to give good heel-toe action, and give good grip, but when walking on muddy surfaces or pavements that have bits of loose gravel, you end up picking up all kinds of debris on the bottom of your shoe. I then find when I take the shoes off, the flex in the sole means that the shoe bends releasing all these bits of trapped stones on my floors. If I don't notice them and walk on my laminate floor, it could scratch it, so I have to be very careful and take my shoes off straight away. Not a massive hassle as I do that anyway, but it is annoying having to pick stones out my shoe all the time, or if I feel them as I am walking along.

So overall, these look great, they are very supportive, but really they are fair weather shoes. I would wear them for sport as they are supportive and have good grip, but I would be wary about where I went in them, due to them being not waterproof and picking up so much debris from the floor.

Summary: I feel a lot fitter wearing these even if I don't put the thought into much action
